- NM Considers New Test to Predict Students' WASL Performance

The North Mason School Board heard about a different kind of assessment, NWEA's MAP tests, that might help teachers zero in on their student's learning needs and improve their academic performance. The school board took an online seminar for NWEA to learn more about the new software. Vicki Hopkins, president of the North Mason Teachers Association, said she was among a group of teachers to get early training in the MAP system and felt it would be far more useful than the previous assessment, known as Ed Performance.Read the full article
- High standards show in Penrose CSAP scores

Test scores across the board continue to skyrocket at Penrose School. Part of the credit goes to the NWEA system recently adopted at the school to help prepare for Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) tests. The principal praised the MAP system and how it generates immediate results and is very in depth. The NWEA results are used throughout the Florence- Penrose School District to classify students into small groups for similar work, such as reading comprehension. Those students then receive immediate, appropriate help, which translates into higher CSAP scores at the end of the year.Read the full article
- After a year of testing, educators ‘pleased’

Students in the Henry County School System will have one less test this school year. The school system has scheduled its system-wide benchmark assessment, MAP, to be administered twice during the upcoming school year. It is one less MAP assessment than students took last year, which was a productive year for teachers and students alike, according to Hampton Elementary School Principal Debra Collins.Read the full article
