Chalie Patarapichayatham, PhD

Lead Psychometrician

Chalie Patarapichayatham serves as lead psychometrician on several state assessment contracts at NWEA. Her research interests include psychometrics, computer-adaptive testing, large-scale assessments, automated item generation, and automated scoring. Before joining NWEA, she spent nine years as a research professor at the Simmons School of Education & Human Development at Southern Methodist University, where she specialized in psychometrics, educational measurement, assessment, research methodology, and program evaluation. Previously, she taught statistics to doctoral students in education and worked as a research associate at the University of Oregon, focusing on formative assessments. She also worked on psychometrics and research in computer-adaptive testing for an EdTech company.

Dr. Patarapichayatham earned her PhD from Chulalongkorn University in 2011.
