Calibration of Spanish MAP Growth Math tests
June 2020
By: Shudong Wang, Xueming (Sylvia) Li
Description
The calibration study was conducted to investigate the consequences of replacing the English MAP Growth Mathematics item parameters with the Spanish mathematics item parameters from calibrating Spanish items using empirical data. Spanish mathematics items currently have the same item parameters as their English counterparts, but calibrating the Spanish instead using empirical student data will result in a more reliable and valid assessment. The final calibration results are based on monolingual data only (i.e., Spanish test responses), but bilingual results are also used as references.
